The Batta Farm, founded in 1923, is located on Via San Girolamo which links Ponte San Giovanni with Perugia. Cipriano Piccolpasso, the sixteenth century writer and cartographer from Perugia, describes the place with these words, “It’s a valley filled with many fruit and olive trees and many vineyards, which we can only describe as a real heaven on earth...”
Batta Farm covers 14 hectacres of olive groves with over 3,400 trees, some of which are centuries old Dolce Agogia, an excellent variety typical of the area. The harvest reaches about 350 tons of olives which produce about 60 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil…..
Our oil has an intense golden-yellow colour with delicate green nuances; to the nose it is strong and full of character with distinct notes of artichoke and thistle and delicate scents of aromatic herbs, especially parsley and mint. To the taste it has hints of chicory, lettuce and almonds. It is best described as bitter and spicy, strong and harmonious…..
